Senior RPG Developer– IBM i Modernization&Business Systems, Schoten

Our client, a long-established organization in the distribution sector, is seeking a Senior RPG Developer to maintain and modernize their business-critical custom software. The role focuses on evolving a core system that manages logistics and integrates with modern web applications.

Responsibilities

Develop new applications from scratch on the IBM i (AS/400) platform including native 5250 emulation.

Maintain and modernize a portfolio of business-critical, custom-built RPG programs.

Build interfaces between the core platform and external systems like PHP webshops.

Manage multiple concurrent projects across development, modernization, and maintenance phases.

Troubleshoot existing programs and implement pragmatic technical fixes.

Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into functional technical solutions.

Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on experience as an

RPG Developer

on the

IBM i (AS/400)

platform.

Experience with

native development

and

5250 emulation

in custom environments.

A proven track record of modernizing legacy

AS/400

applications and building new ones.

Experience building and maintaining interfaces between

IBM i

and external platforms.

Comfortable managing multiple projects in parallel and switching contexts efficiently.

Pragmatic communicator at ease with direct stakeholder management.

Fluent in

Dutch

with professional command of

English .

Nice to Haves

Basic command of

French .

Working knowledge of

PHP .

Prior experience in retail, distribution, or wholesale environments.
