Freelance ML Engineer– Marketing Automation (Retail) Limburg ( 1 or 2 days a week on-site) | Contract / Freelance

About the Role We’re supporting an innovative retail client on a mission to transform their marketing through advanced AI and data-driven decision‑making. They’re looking for a Freelance AI Engineer to design and deliver intelligent marketing solutions that enhance customer engagement, personalisation, and overall experience.

This is a hands‑on, project‑driven role where you’ll apply machine learning and analytics to solve real commercial challenges—helping the business better understand and connect with its customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop and implement AI‑driven marketing automation systems across key channels

Build customer segmentation models to improve targeting and campaign effectiveness

Design and optimise recommendation engines for personalised product experiences

Analyse customer and campaign data to generate actionable insights and improve ROI

Support the development of customer experience strategies through data and modelling

Work closely with marketing and data teams to align AI solutions with business goals

Continuously monitor and refine model performance in a retail environment

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as an AI / Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist in a commercial setting

Strong coding skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn)

Experience working with marketing data, customer analytics, or personalisation platforms

Solid understanding of segmentation techniques, recommendation systems, and predictive modelling

Experience working with large datasets and deploying scalable solutions

Ability to translate complex analytical outputs into clear business insights

Nice to Have

Experience within retail or e-commerce

Familiarity with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Knowledge of real‑time or streaming data applications
